More and more creators are abandoning the animal fur of their collections. This weekend, it was the turn of Michael Kors to join the list of creators sensitive to the cause of animal welfare.
After Stella McCartney, Giorgio Armani, Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren or Gucci last October, it is now Michael Kors' turn to abandon animal fur for 2018. An important milestone for this iconic luxury brand: " This is the beginning of a new chapter for our company that continues to evolve the use of innovative materials ", says John D. Idol, president of Michael Kors, magazine Business of Fashion. According to Michael Kors, this decision follows the evolution of new technologies that allow, today, to manufacture quality faux fur.
However, it could also have been accelerated by last June's event when animal rights activists interrupted Michael Kors during a speech at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
Michael Kors will unveil his first fake fur pieces in February 2018, at the next New York Fashion Week. We say bravo!
